The Dark lord is the commander of Diablo's legions and the estranged brother of General Garicus. He evolves into the Emperor of Darkness.

Dark Lord[]

Roles: Tank, Support, Physical Damage, Summons

Description:The Dark Lord is the only ranged strength character. He's ok at tanking, party buffs, and enemy debuffs, and with beserka he does pretty good auto attack damage as well. He has high strength but has the lowest intelligence of any character class.

PROS[]

  • Plenty of Party buffs and area debuffs
  • Avatar Ability to avoid spell damage
  • 100% attack speed self buff, plus multishot makes for good auto attack DPS against small groups
  • Debuffs help him to deal good damage while also tanking

CONS[]

  • Only 3 damage spells (claws of Darkness, Grounds of destruction, and throne of darkness)
  • Mirror Image removes self buffs

Skills[]

Claws of Darkness[]

Jumps in the air, causing initial damage to enemies nearby. Then blast away at the ground, causing claws of death to emerge.

  • DMG: (50 x lvl) +(str x 5)
  • DMG TYPE: Unholy
  • MANA COST: 3 + lvl, lvl 200 = 203mp

Review: A solid AOE ability that's great against packs of mobs.

BONUSES: The following items will each add 1x strength damage to claws of darkness

  1. Infernal Hammer (reforged) or Diabolicus
  2. Daemonic Gauntlets of Supremacy
  3. Ghul'eth'zul'mundae

Death Spikes[]

Counters each attack with spiked projectiles emerging from the Hero's body. Death spikes also has a chance to explode, dealing massive damage all around the Hero

  • Return Dmg: Str / (5-(lvl/200))
  • Explosion Dmg: (Str+int)
  • Explosion Chance: 2%

Review: This is a useful passive. Deals consistent low amounts of dmg towards enemies attacking you.

Aevatarus[]

Those born under the constellation Aevatarus may call upon the great star to increase their power.

  • Damage: 25+(LVL/4)%
  • Life: 50+(lvl/4)%
  • Armor: 25+(LVL/4)%
  • Duration: 15+(Speechcraft/5)
  • Effects: Reflect Spells, Knockback
  • MANA COST: 25 + (lvlx4), lvl 200 = 825mp

Review: Custom avatar that works with other buffs (no magic immunity) and gives amazing damage and defensive buffs.

Mastery[]

Improves the Hero's fighting stance allowing them to evade and perform critical strikes.

  • Damage Increase: (lvl x 5)
  • Critical chance: 2%
  • Multiplier: .10 + (lvl x 0.001)
  • Evasion: +5%

Review: This passive is amazing both offensively and defensively.

Dark Lord's Abilities (lvl 10)[]

Your spellbook upgrades every ten hero levels until it maxes at hero level 100. I've listed the final spell list below.

Battle Formation (level 5):[]

Fall into formation, increasing both the hero's and nearby units damage, defense and regeneration. Also buffs your guard summons if cast prior.

  • Damage Increased: 40%
  • Armor Increased: 125
  • Life Regen: 125/sec
  • Mana Regen: 50/sec
  • Duration: 30 seconds.
  • Cooldown: 45 seconds.
  • Mana Cost: 125 mana

Review: This skill is great. The health and mana regen alone are enough of a reason to use it, but the damage increase and armor are also great additions

Net Mastery[]

Throw spiked nets at a target area, cause them to bind enemies to the ground, so that they cannot move for a short duration

  • Damage: (Str x4) + (Agi x4)
  • Duration: Normal: 10, Hero: 5
  • Cooldown: 60
  • Mana Cost: 750

Review: Skill was buffed to do damage as well as immobilize, making it a welcome addition to the dark lord's arsenal. This final level of the skill is an AOE.

Guards[]

Summon forth the Dark Lord's Personal Guard [Battle Formation]

  • Summons: Unholy Guard
  • Amount: 1-2+(Hero lvl/100) 
  • Health: 66% [75%] of Heros health 
  • Damage: 50% [75%] of Heros dmg 
  • Armor: 10 [25] + 50% [66%] of hero level
  • Melee range (Normal Dmg, Unarmored). 
  • Abilities: Slow, Banish
  • Duration: Permanent.
  • Mana Cost: 250mana

Review: Pretty good summon ability. Be sure to cast battle formation first.

Berserka[]

This state of mind allows for twice the attack speed while resisting all types of thorns.

  • Attack Speed Increased: 100%
  • Resilience: Thorns, Thorns of Acid, Thorns Magica
  • Duration: 20
  • Cooldown: 60
  • Mana Cost: 500 mana

Review: This will cause you to attack like a madman. Great for any auto attack enthusiasts

Multishot[]

The Dark Lord's power grows even stronger, allowing him to attack multiple units at once.

  • PASSIVE: 3 Targets

Aura of Horror (level 3)[]

Strike fear into the hearts of all creatures. Men and demons alike will all tremble before you, decreasing their attack damage.

  • Attack Reduction: 25%
  • RANGE: 700

Review: A nice debuff aura. Percentage based, so more impact against stronger enemies

Dark Fear[]

Makes all units within the area fear for their lives, decreasing their attributes.

  • Damage Reduction: 20%
  • Armor Reduction: 100
  • Duration: 30 seconds.
  • Cooldown: 80 seconds.
  • Mana Cost: 250mana

Review: The debuff version of battle formation. It's excellent for weakening tougher enemies. It also stacks with Aura of Horror.

Grounds of Destruction[]

Call upon the darkness to deal death and destruction upon the land.

  • Dmg/wave: Str x 3
  • Dmg type: Unholy
  • Waves: 4
  • Cooldown: 45 Seconds

Review: It's decent. Not too considering the lengthy cooldown

Dark Separation[]

Split into two nearly equally powerful parts for a short duration of time increasing Damage output and confusing the enemy. [Aevatarus]

  • Damage Taken: 200%
  • Duration: 20 seconds.
  • Cooldown: 60seconds.
  • Mana Cost: 666mana

Synergies:

  • Aevatarus increases the amount summoned.
  • Beserka adds multishot

Review: Not that great. The images don't last that long and they're outperformed by your summons in every way. This also removes any positive buffs you might have on your hero.

Throne of Darkness:[]

Summon forth the hero's throne room from beneath the sands dealing massive waves of destruction. The throne room continues to stay, slowing and corrupting all those around.

  • Damage: 3 x str/ per second
  • Damage Type: Unholy
  • Duration: 30 + (hunting/2) seconds.
  • Cooldown: 120 seconds.
  • Mana Cost: 1250mana

Review: So you may be saying, 3 x str per wave doesn't seem like a lot compared to some of the other ultimates, and you'd be correct. However, the catch is that this ultimate goes on forever. At max hunting it lasts for an insane 80 seconds, and even at hunting zero it will go on for 30. That's quite a lot of extra dmg you'll be putting out on the longer boss fights.

Evolution[]

The Dark Lord's Evolution Location is inside the Temple of Evil. Bring the Ultimate Orb of Evil at level 200 and talk to the acolyte there to transform into the Emperor of Darkness.
